Privacy Policy
Last Updated: July 13, 2025
We know that trust is the foundation of our community. You trust us to run a great event, and you also trust us with your information. This guide explains our approach to your privacy in a straightforward Q&A format.
Your Questions, Answered
1. What information do you actually collect when I register?
When you sign up for Furever Pawradise, we ask for the basics to get you in the door and keep the event safe:

-
Your full legal name
-
Your date of birth
-
Your contact details (email, mailing address, phone number)
What we DON’T touch: We never see or store your financial information. All payments are handled by a secure, professional payment processor (like Stripe or Square), so your credit card details stay between you and them.
2. Okay, but why do you need that specific info?
Great question. We aren't just being nosy. Every piece of information has a specific purpose:
-
Your Name: So we can create your badge and confirm you're the person who registered.
-
Your Date of Birth: To verify you meet the age requirements for our event.
-
Your Email: This is our main way to send you crucial updates about the convention (like schedule changes or health and safety info). With your permission, we’ll also use it to let you know about future events.
-
Your Address & Phone: These are kept strictly for emergency situations. If we need to contact you or a guardian urgently, this is how we’ll do it.
3. Will you sell my data or spam my inbox?
Absolutely not. We will never sell your personal information to anyone.
Regarding emails, you are in control. You will receive essential operational emails about the event you registered for. For marketing emails about future events, you will have to explicitly opt-in, and you can unsubscribe with a single click at any time.
4. Does anyone else get to see my information?
We limit sharing your information as much as possible. It is only shared in a few, specific scenarios:

-
The Host Hotel: We may confirm your name with the hotel to ensure our attendees are properly checked in to our room block or to address a serious safety or security issue.
-
Legal Obligations: If we are presented with a legally binding request from Canadian law enforcement (like a warrant), we must comply.
-
Community Safety: In rare and extreme cases where an individual poses a documented, serious threat to the physical safety of our attendees or staff, we may share necessary information with other events or law enforcement to prevent harm. This is a measure of last resort to protect the community.
5. How do you protect my information from being stolen or lost?
We treat your data's security like we do our own. We use a multi-layered approach:

-
Digital Safeguards: Our systems are protected by passwords and encryption to prevent unauthorized access.
-
Physical Safeguards: Any paper documents are kept securely under lock and key.
-
People Safeguards: Only a small number of trusted staff members who need your information to do their jobs (like the registration lead) are allowed to access it.
6. How long do you hang onto my data?
We don't keep it forever. We retain your information only as long as necessary for operational and legal reasons (for example, for financial audits or to make it easier for you to register next year). After that period, it is securely and permanently deleted.
7. What if my information is wrong, or I want you to delete it?
You are in the driver's seat when it comes to your data. You have the right to:

-
See It: Ask us for a copy of the information we have about you.
-
Fix It: Tell us to correct any information that is out of date or inaccurate.
-
Withdraw Consent: You can tell us to stop using your information. (Please understand that if you withdraw consent for the essential data needed to run the event, we won't be able to process your registration).
To do any of the above, just send us an email!
8. How will I know if this policy changes?
We may update this guide from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "Last Updated" date at the top. For any major changes, we will make a clear announcement on our website or contact you directly.
9. Who can I talk to if I have questions or concerns?
We're here to help. For any questions, requests, or concerns about your privacy, please contact our designated Privacy Officer:

-
Email: privacy@fureverpawradise.ca
We take all concerns seriously and will do our best to resolve them promptly. If you are not satisfied with our resolution, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC).
